Tissot takes us on a journey through time in collaboration with UFO Robot Grendizer, combining two iconic characters from the 70s: the famous PRX and the super robot from Japanese anime.
Blending the best of two cultures, Swiss craftsmanship and the original design influenced by the pop culture of 1970s manga, a new chapter is launched that includes the newest fans of this fantastic world and, in turn, brings nostalgic memories to those who have grown up with these characters.
70s Inspiration, Present-Day Technology
This special edition fuses the vintage design of the PRX with the iconic elements of the popular anime series, both released in the 1970s. The manga was a huge success in the 1970s, achieving a special place in European hearts from 1978, the same year that the first Seastar model, the original PRX, was launched. This watch features a 40mm 316L stainless steel case and the blue dial, inspired by the blue of Grendizer himself, shines with a yellow bust of the robot hero with Super-LumiNova®, complemented by a Harken-style second hand and a uniquely engraved rotor, which will undoubtedly evoke nostalgia in any true fan.
On the top tab there is a text in Japanese that says "UFOロボ グレンダイザー", the original title of Grendizer. This detail underlines the authenticity of the collaboration between the Swiss brand and the Japanese manga.
Equipped with the Powermatic 80 movement, the watch offers up to 80 hours of power reserve, while the Nivachron™ spiral guarantees great precision and reliability. Protected by a sapphire crystal and equipped with a mineral glass back, this special edition offers durability, while leaving a window open to the different nods to the series. With a water resistance of up to 10 bar (100 meters/330 feet) and an engraved crown, it guarantees reliability in any environment. The robust design of the iconic 70s metal bracelet has been worked to provide maximum comfort.
To make this edition even more special, the watch case has a design inspired by Spazer, Grendizer's UFO. A personal touch that recalls the legendary spacecraft of the main character and its case features original drawings by Go-Nagai.
