Our recommendation is the Montblanc 1858 Automatic Chronograph 0 Oxygen 8000, one of our favourites from Montblanc due to its casual tool watch aesthetic and proportions. Inspired by explorers who climb the highest peaks and conquer the toughest trails, the watch is built to take on anything. Montblanc ensures the case has 0% oxygen inside, protecting the movement, dial, and other internal components from oxidizing. It is built with adventure in mind.
2. Montblanc Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph
Moving on to a historical piece, one of the greatest inventions in horological history is the chronograph, yet few know how it originated. Invented by Nicolas-Mathieu Rieussec in 1821, the inking chronograph was an early example of a watch that used a pen-like apparatus to mark a surface or dial, recording elapsed time. Since it represented the physical writing of time, the term "chronograph" was coined. The Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph pays tribute to Rieussec and his invention, combining classic and modern styling. Featuring a typical time-only function at the 12 o’clock position, the dial also includes two rotating discs: a 60-second counter on the left and a 30-minute counter on the right. Although it is large at 44 mm, the Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph would not showcase its beautiful details as effectively in a smaller form factor.
3. Montblanc Bohème Day & Night 30 mm
The Montblanc Bohème Day & Night 30 mm is the epitome of elegance, drawing inspiration from calligraphy, handwriting, and the beauty of watercolor. Diamond indices surround the blue sunbrushed dial, complemented by the beautiful simplicity of rhodium-coated floral Arabic numerals and hands. Wrapping the package together is the Celestial Day & Night complication, which takes center stage. The Montblanc Bohème Day & Night 30 mm is elegant romance in a wearable form and one of the most beautiful pieces available from Montblanc.
4. Montblanc Star Legacy Orbis Terrarum Around The World In 80 Days Limited Edition
We think it’s best to finish the list with a bang, so we decided on the Montblanc Star Legacy Orbis Terrarum Around The World In 80 Days Limited Edition, which pulls inspiration from the Jules Vergne classic novel of the same name. The watch, like the story, was designed to captivate the hearts and minds of those of all ages, and to bring that naive, childlike enjoyment through watchmaking. This beautiful World Timer features a multi-layer dial, creating the image of a map, and in it, 80 gold dashes to lay out the adventure of Phileas Fogg (the main character in Around The World In 80 Days) which is a beautifully executed easter egg/surprise. All in all, it’s a fantastic example of what Montblanc is capable of from a watchmaking perspective, and the beautiful creations they have the ability to design and bring to life.
